Selective Disclosure
Selective disclosure reveals only the specific fields or portions of a record that a particular recipient actually needs, rather than sharing the entire record and relying on the recipient's discretion, or a promise, not to look at or misuse the rest. Applied to an audit log specifically, this might mean sharing the entries relevant to one incident with an outside reviewer, with unrelated entries — which might reference other people or other matters entirely — redacted out before the log ever leaves the organization's control.
The alternative — sharing everything and trusting the recipient to only look at what's relevant — depends entirely on the recipient's good behavior, which is exactly the kind of dependency access control is meant to remove wherever redaction or field-level disclosure can do the job structurally instead.
